Updates to YouTube’s Payment System and Offensive Comment Warning
14 Mar 2022
YouTube has stated that it will be expanding the warning given to its users when they leave comments that are considered dangerous or offensive to other users.
This alert was previously only available to users who accessed the platform via their mobile devices, but now YouTube plans to extend this feature to its desktop users as well.
This feature is meant to help users of the platform be more considerate when leaving comments, as well as warn them about leaving offensive comments.
Users are also urged to visit the "Community Guidelines" section of YouTube to make sure they do not violate the rules outlined there. These new changes are all in an effort to protect the creators on the YouTube platform as well as the viewers.
Another update that will be coming to the YouTube platform is the one that was made to the payment system that YouTube employs for its creators. YouTube is separating the creator payment system from AdSense.
If you are not familiar with the AdSense platform, it is a Google program that helps you earn money from advertisements posted alongside your online content.
This new update will allow creators to view their AdSense payments separately from their other earnings on YouTube. This, however, does not mean that this new system for payments will be totally off the AdSense platform. While still nesting on the same platform, the new system for payments will have a different homepage as well as a payment account.
These changes are geared toward helping users have a better view of their earnings. It has been announced that these updates will be implemented slowly starting in March 2022 and will continue over the following months.
