TikTok Is Much More Different From Facebook
23 Jun 2022
TikTok and Facebook are often found in the same sentence as big rivals, but is it true? At the core, these two apps differ in many aspects, although having a big audience worldwide. Currently, Facebook is changing the platform to catch up to the numbers of TikTok, but maybe it isn’t worth it.
Blake Chandlee, president of global business solutions for TikTok, has stated a clear difference between the app: TikTok was created for entertainment foremost, and Facebook was built on social circles and connections. Facebook is a big platform that serves more as a way of bringing people together through interests and mutual friends.
Chandlee has a lot of experience working in global companies. All in all, he was an executive at Facebook for almost 12 years, and then he accepted a job at TikTok in 2019. The chief knows how the business works because, at his time, he watched the rivalry between Facebook and Google+ unveil.
It was a big storm on Facebook back then – many people were worried that Google+ could be potentially successful, but time showed that this social network didn’t stand a chance. Google’s main perspective is research, while Facebook is all about connection. The same goes for TikTok, as this platform aims to discover new things and interests while not forming actual social circles.
Of course, Chandlee wants TikTok to stand out, but the app already covers a lot in this area. There are not many other platforms that can surpass TikTok in numbers by now, but there is still room for improvement. If Facebook wants to reach the same amount of following as the said app, it will need to change its whole way of perceiving and creating content.
Do you think Facebook can reach TikTok? What would be the best direction for Facebook right now? Please, share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
