Snapchat Allows Sharing Real-Time Locations with Your Friends

Snapchat is adding a new feature that will allow its users to share their location in real-time for 15 minutes or even a few hours. This feature is meant to serve a role as a temporary buddy system to keep an eye on the exact location of your friend when you are away from each other.

This feature can help you ensure your friend’s safety as they are getting back home or whenever you need to know the exact location of a person for an extended period of time. This new feature is very similar to the Find My app for iOS devices.

This new feature can only be activated if you are friends with the other person. Thus, it prevents strangers from finding out your exact location. Snapchat has partnered with several non-profit organizations to use their new feature to combat sexual assault. ‘It’s On Us’ and ‘Here For You’ are now using Snapchat to create a safe space for all students in the country.

Snapchat has also implemented a feature where you can stop sharing your location without the other person finding out. This will somewhat prevent incessant stalking or people forcing one another into constantly sharing their location.

This feature has a limitation where you can’t share your location with all of your friends at the same time. This was done on purpose to safeguard people from sharing their location with someone they do not trust.

Do you like the idea of being able to constantly share your location with one of your friends? How often do you think this feature will get abused by jealous partners? Would you use such a feature yourself? Tell us what you think in the comment section and share this article with your friends.
