Instagram Slowly Increases Daily Time Limit
28 Feb 2022
Although originally it was Instagram’s idea, the company decided to extend the time limit to 30 minutes. It all started with the company’s announcement of friendly reminders that users could receive to distract from social media. Now, they extend the minimum time of this limit.
Instagram quietly removes the shortest time limit that was originally established. Now users can set up only 30 minutes reminders. It encourages people to stay longer inside the app, attracting more marketers to promote their goods on Instagram. It happened right after Meta revealed the loss in its income in the last financial quarter compared to the last year’s.
The original service allowed users to set the limit even on 5 minutes. Today, you can receive notifications after half an hour or up to 3 hours. You can always enable the feature in the settings.
There are numerous screenshots spreading around the web from Instagram’s users who were trying to set up 5 or 10 minutes notifications but managed to pick only a 30 minutes limit. Those who originally used shorter periods of time were urged to extend the time. They received the popup from Instagram. According to the notification, users who chose the timer for less than 30 minutes have to select the time. The 10 minutes or less is not supported anymore, according to Instagram officials. The reminders were sent to users who enabled the time limit. Users who decided to stop using the feature had no other way than to quit the app.
Currently, there are several options available. You can set up the alarm for 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes, 2 hours, or 3 hours. Instagram has officially explained the situation. According to them, they extended the daily limit just to clean the space from numerous notifications that could be confusing for users.
