Fortnite Introduces X-23 with Adamantium Claws for Players to Buy

The collaboration between Fortnite and Marvel goes on, and now the most involved in the pop culture video game features a new skin of X-23. Laura Kinney is the adoptive daughter of Wolverine (nothing more, nothing less), and while herself she isn’t such an icon, she shares the most iconic element with her stepfather – the adamantium claws.

The X-23 skin can be found in the Item Shop. Players can buy the entire bundle or separate elements of it: the skin (with the pickaxe included), the outfit, the clone pod back bling, the harvesting tools (which is the iconic double pair of claws), and the insignia. Buying the bundle will save you 900 V-Bucks, as the entire collection of separate items would cost 2,800 V-Bucks, and the bundle is 1,900.

Marvel fans will appreciate the attention paid to the details of the image of the heroine. Other players, though, will also be enchanted by this distinctly feminine yet aggressive character. This may be a part of her introduction into the MCU – if not in her own movie, then in a TV show or at least as a supporting character. Given that the X-Men series will probably not be continued, and Logan’s sequel is out of question, this character may have been wasted – which is not the lot we’d wish her. James Mangold, the director of Logan, agrees she deserves more presence there.

If it’s so, Fortnite is officially recognized as more than a polygon for featuring established characters that made it into Marvel Cinematic Universe or video games of their own. X-23 remains a purely comic book character, yet she’s made it to Fortnite too. By the way, if you buy the third issue of the Zero War comic book, the crossover of Fortnite and Marvel, you will get the Adamantium Claws Pickaxe for free. The other items, though, are still to be purchased.
