EA Doesn’t Blame Halo Infinite for the Problems of Battlefield 2042
21 Feb 2022
After EA employees were interviewed, they claimed that EA executives had allegedly blamed the launch of Halo’s free-to-play multiplayer that happened very close to the date that Battlefield 2042 was released.
This is simply not true and the poor performance of Battlefield 2042 can only be blamed on its developers. Upon release Battlefield 2042 was filled with countless bugs, making the game almost unplayable. As a result, the game was called a dumpster fire, especially after EA tried to blame anything but themselves for the poor quality of the game.
Later EA wanted to backtrack, saying that their words were misinterpreted and that the whole discussion was never focused on blaming external factors. EA outlined all the reasons for the poor reception of Battlefield 2042, which included performances issues, bugs, and poor design decisions. EA claims that all of this happened due to challenges posed by the pandemic and the fact that many people had to work from home. A few weeks prior to this announcement, EA had told its investors the same story.
Overall, making a comparison between Halo Infinite and Battlefield 2042 was a very bad idea since Halo Infinite was a very polished game while Battlefield 2042 was brimming with bugs. Additionally, Battlefield 2042 received a lot of criticism for its technical failures.
According to new information, in a recording of a portion of EA’s meeting the game was initially described as stable, that its reception was positive, and that the player retention was strong. All of this has changed after the weekend. On Monday Halo Infinite multiplayer was released and in comparison to Battlefield 2042, it looks very polished, despite the fact that it was a very small portion of the game it cast a shadow on the bugs and polish issues that Battlefield 2042 had.
