CNIL Fears Google Analytics Will Give Us Intelligence Access to the Data of the French People

Google Analytics is an analytics tool developed by Google and is the most commonly used analytic tool in the world. In the past, Google has denied that its analytic tool is being used for tracking purposes, but according to CNIL, this claim might be false. CNIL has claimed that there was a risk that Google's analytic service might be providing US intelligence with data gathered from its users in France.
CNIL is the French administrative organization that ensures the data privacy of the French people. In a recent statement, CNIL accused Google of not having sufficient measures in place to guarantee the privacy rights stated in the European Union regulation regarding data transfer between European countries and America.
In its statements, CNIL said that the measures put in place by Google are not enough to prevent the intelligence services of the US from gaining access to user data from European countries. And it continues by saying that this poses a risk to the French people whose data will be exported when they make use of Google’s services.
The CNIL has given a French website administrator a one-month deadline to comply with EU regulations. It has issued identical directives to all other website administrators.
Due to similar concerns, the Eu's Court of Justice revoked the Privacy Shield, a transatlantic data transfer agreement utilized by thousands of firms for services that span finance, payroll, and cloud infrastructure.
Because of the legal risks they face, numerous firms, including Google and Meta, have urged for a transnational data transfer agreement to be implemented as soon as possible.
